Wal Deane Lincoln Obituary

            Mrs. Wal Deane Lincoln, 95, of Youngstown, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at her home with her family at her side.

            Mrs. Lincoln was born April 10, 1930 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of John and Mamie Lee Walker Gamble.  She was a 1948 graduate of The Rayen School.  A loving and devoted homemaker, Wal Deane was a member of St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church, its Stewardess Board #3 and the Modernettes.  She loved flowers and plants, shopping, cooking (especially pound cakes, potato salads and jello molds), and she never met a stranger.

            She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her son, Gregory W. Gamble Lincoln, and her daughter, Brigitte M. Lincoln both of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Bryan M. Lincoln whom she reared, Janiero Crankfield, Brandon Edward Lincoln Stores, Taylor S. Lincoln; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee “Abe” Lincoln whom she married in November 1950, and who passed away in 1993; and her siblings, Aloise “May” Montgomery, Helen “Bebe” Sullivan, Eloise “Wee” Burke and Jean “Tootie” Dowe.

            Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church, 521 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511.  A Celebration of Life service will follow immediately at 12:00 p.m.

            Ministry of comfort and dignity entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
