Sylvia Jean Clinkscale

Mrs. Sylvia Jean Clinkscale, 78, of Sunbury,   Ohio, departed this life on February 2, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  

Sylvia was born on December 26, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Perry and Essie Mae Woods.  She was a graduate of The Rayen High School and attended Youngstown State University.  She had been employed for 38 years as a phlebotomist at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.  She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher.  She loved to shop.  

She leaves to mourn her passing, her two daughters, Latanya McGee of Youngstown, Ohio, Rochelle (Isaiah) Garron of Sunbury, OH., and her son, David Clinkscale of Mansfield, Ohio; her siblings, Leslie Norman of Liberty OH., Delores (Maurice) Tucker of Hubbard, OH., Cheryl Silas and Arlene Woods of Austintown, Connie Woods of New York; her 95 year old Aunt, Gladys Parker; 11 Grandchildren, Gregory and Tanae McGee, Kevin, Keilan and Brandon Clinkscale; Stephen Johnson, Anthony Mascarella, Latice Wright, Antwan Dawson, and Robert Perryman, 3 Step-sons, Arthur Jr, Timothy, and Victor Clinkscale, a host of Step Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren; two nephews, Perry and Brian Fortner and a great grandson, Gregory McGee Jr. whom she reared. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Clinkscale; her brother, Perry Woods Jr.; her sisters,  LaVerne Woods, Ruby Williams, and Janice Woods; and a her step-daughter, Carmen Justice.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman Street, Youngstown.  Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m.
