Rosetta Young Obituary

Rosetta Young, 97, peacefully returned to heaven on February 6, 2024, at 3 AM in Boardman, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 9, 1926, in Selma, Alabama, Rosetta migrated to Campbell, Ohio, at age 7, with her mother,  Mittie Jackson. Throughout her long and meaningful life, Rosetta dedicated herself to serving the Lord, and providing diligent care to her clientele as a domestic technician.

Rosetta, the last surviving sibling of 7, embodied the roles of provider, caretaker, nurturer, counselor, and consoler to all fortunate enough to cross her path. Her warm smile and gentle nature radiated through her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those blessed to be in her presence.

A distinguished member of the Flower Club and the NAACP, Rosetta's commitment extended to the Gospel Temple Baptist Church, where she was church mother and devoted an impressive 90 years of service. Her dedication was honored with an award recognizing her as the oldest and longest-serving member. Apart from her devotion to God and family, she held a special place for bingo, a pastime that found her in the bingo hall several times a week.

Rosetta is preceded in death by her parents, Mittie and Beatrice Jackson, longtime companion Pablo Ortiz, sons Robert Young, Frank Young, Alvin Ray, and siblings Eva Smith, Exie Hill, Beatrice Stanford, Lena Bell Battle, Leroy Jackson, and Jesse Jackson.

She is survived by her daughters Ora Dothard of Youngstown, OH., Connie Sims of Dallas, TX., Linda Brown of Alexandria, LA., Tiffany Mosley (grandaughter whom she raised) of Columbus, OH., son Kenneth(Giovani) Young of Chester, VA.,17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and a host of beloved family and friends.

Special acknowledgement to Aretha Ray (grandaughter), Donna Turner (niece), Renee Smith, Jimmy Stewart, Shepard of the Valley and Hospice of the Valley for the loving care they provided.

As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary woman, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all for the loving thoughts given towards Rosetta Young, a phenomenal woman that holds a special place in our lives and hearts. Thank you for celebrating her life.  May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us all.
